Another set of 258 Nigerian returnees from the northern African country of Libya have arrived the country aboard a chartered Airbus A333-200, operated by Libya Airlines.
The aircraft touched down at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 9:43pm on Thursday night.
The deportees whose return was facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Nigerian Embassy in Libya, are made up of 233 males and 25 females including four children and one infant.
The returnees, most of whom looked distraught, were received at the Hajj wing of the airport by officers of the National Agency for the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
The Director-General of NAPTIP, Julie Okah-Donli, told newsmen that the agency, apart from being particularly interested in trafficked persons, is collaborating with the international community to clamp down on the syndicate that specializes in human trafficking.
