Wife of Nigerian President, Aisha Buhari, has broken her silence over the sentiments and concerns which lately, have been loudly expressed in various quarters over her husband’s health. This week, there was a call by a group of prominent lawyers that President Buhari took another medical vacation so he could properly attend to his health. A prominent leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress also raised the alarm that the President’s health status could cause instability in the Nigerian polity.
In a series of tweets on her handle on Tuesday, Aisha, while thanking Nigerians for their continued support and prayers, assured them that the president has not abandoned his duties and responsibilities despite his ailing health. She said:
“I thank all Nigerians for their concern, love and prayers over my husband’s health status. I wish to inform everyone that his health is not as bad as it’s being perceived.
“Meanwhile he continues to carry out his responsibilities during this period. As it may have come to your notice, he is meeting with the Minister of Justice and GMD of NNPC this evening. Long Live Nigerians, Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
However, President Buhari was again absent at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held this Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
No official reason or statement has been given for the president’s absence at the meeting which was presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
