The Directorate of State Services (DSS) has said that the alleged diversion of petroleum products worth N11 billion by the Managing Director of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Uba is economic sabotage which is an offence punishable by death.
The statement was contained in a written submission and counter-affidavit filed by the DSS to oppose an application by Uba’s counsel asking an Abuja High Court to set aside an order for his detention for 14 days.
In the counter-affidavit filed by the agency’s Safwan Bello, the DSS described Uba’s alleged diversion of the petroleum products kept in his custody by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), as a serious economic crime capable of causing great damage to the country.
The trial of Uba was stalled on Tuesday as he was not produced in court by the security agency who appeared to be working under the order of the Abuja court which authorized his detention for 14 days.
