A panel of investigation has been constituted by the Kano State House of Assembly to look into various allegations leveled against the embattled Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi II.
The eight-man panel which was constituted on Wednesday by the Speaker of the state’s assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum followed a point of order raised by the member representing Nasarawa Constituency, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmad Gama.
The Assembly accused the Emir of criticizing the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and spreading false information on the recent trip of the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and some government officials to China.
Other allegations leveled against the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor include spending government funds without the approval of the state governor or that of the state assembly and delegating his daughter to represent him in a function without her dressing in the required full cultural regalia.
In a related development, the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged the emir and the Kaduna State governor to respect the decision reached by the Northern Governor’s Forum (NGF).
In a communiqué released at the end of the joint meeting of the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the National Executive Council of the ACF, the group also said other political groups should stop heating up the polity with unguided utterances and appealed to all Nigerians to bear with the current economic situation in the country.
