The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, has debunked rumours making the rounds that the President, who is on a medical leave in the United Kingdom has passed on.
Garba stated this on Sunday in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle @ Garshehu, saying the rumours were being peddled by some vested interests to cause public panic.
He further urged Nigerians to discard the news that has been trending on several social media platforms and online sites that something unpleasant has happened to the President.
“Baseless rumours are trending again that an unpleasant thing has happened to our beloved President, Muhammadu Buhari. If you have received this information on Whatsapp or Facebook, disregard it because it is plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic,” he said.
“Nothing unpleasant has happened to the President. No cause for apprehension. Thanks for the many calls,” the tweet added.
