Nigeria’s Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has given the Lagos State Government the nod to embark on total reconstruction of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road from Oshodi.
This was announced by the governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode through a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello.
Governor Ambode commended the Acting President for his statesman-like approach to burning national issues and for fast-tracking the process of reconstructing the dilapidated road. The statement quoted Ambode as saying:
“We are very appreciative of the good gesture of His Excellency, the Acting President for acceding to our request which is not only timely but very heart-warming. Posterity will never forget this genuine developmental action.”
The Governor also praised President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the enabling environment to attract foreign investors, noting that the upgrading of the International Airport Road which is the gateway to the nation’s commercial nerve centre, will attract new investment.
He further revealed that the state has since completed the design for the reconstruction of the road and has the funds required to carry out the project but was waiting for the final permission from the Federal Government.
