The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has approved the sum of N566 million for the renovation and completion of 189 Juma’at and daily prayer mosques as well as Islamiyya schools inherited from the previous government in the state.
This was disclosed by Sokoto State’s Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Mani Maishinku Katami at the flag-off of this Year’s Zakkat distribution and special assistance programme for orphans held in Illela Local Government Area of the state.
He said that his ministry has from 2015 to date, provided grants to Islamic organizations and community development associations to the tune of over N805 million.
Flagging off the distribution exercise, Governor Aminu Tambuwal reiterated his administration’s desire to improve the living standard of his people.
