United States President, Donald Trump resumed his vicious attacks on Cable News Network (CNN) following Monday’s resignation of three of its journalists over a Russia-related story.

The story, which was about a supposed investigation into a pre-inaugural meeting between the head of a Russian investment fund and a Trump associate, was posted on the network’s website on Thursday and taken down, with all links disabled on Friday night.

“Wow, CNN had to retract big story on Russia,” with 3 employees forced to resign. What about all the other phony stories they do? FAKE NEWS!,” Trump wrote in a Tuesday morning tweet.

Thomas Frank, the author of the story was among those who resigned. The others who lost their jobs were Eric Lichtblau, an assistant managing editor in CNN’s Washington bureau and Lex Harris, head of the investigations unit.

In taking down the story, which has not been ascertained to be factually incorrect, the news outfit which Trump had frequently derided for peddling “fake news”,  said it did not meet its editorial standards.
