Uganda’s Minister for Kampala Capital City Authority, Beti Kamya has said the Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni is smarter than his entire cabinet which is made up of 80 ministers.
“For the little time I have worked with the President, I find him a very informed and tolerant leader. I sit in cabinet every Wednesday, but actually I think he is more intelligent than the cabinet combined,” Kamya said.
Kamya’s statement is coming in the wake of rumours that the country’s presidential term limits are likely to be altered to allow the almost 73-year-old Museveni who has been ruling the country since 1986 to continue as president amidst protests from political parties and civil society organisations.
Currently, the age limit for a candidate to contest presidential elections in Uganda is constitutionally 75 years and Museveni who is now 72, will be two years older than this limit in 2021 when the next presidential election is slated to be held in the country.
