Protesting youths temporarily shut down Tuesday’s activities at the National Assembly after security operatives denied them entry into the assembly premises.
The protesters who are members of the “I support #NotTooYoungToRun” movement which is seeking a constitutional amendment that would enable young Nigerians to be able to stand for elective positions in the country.
The protesters who had gathered at the Unity Fountain in Abuja in the morning before proceeding to the National Assembly told reporters they only had the intention of speaking with the lawmakers.
However, after being denied access into the Assembly Complex, they shut down the main gate and blocked the roads, preventing all vehicles from either leaving or entering the complex.
