American President, Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin have shared their first hand shake ahead of the G20 summit  holding in Hamburg, Germany.

The footage of the first face-to-face meeting between the two world leaders which has surfaced on social media, shows the US President “slapping” Putin on the back in a show of friendliness.

Trump was first seen gripping Putin’s right hand before patting his arm several times later. He then casually slapped Putin on the back afterwards in what can be seen as a friendly gesture.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov told journalists after the landmark sight, that the leaders “shook hands and told each other that they will shortly have a separate meeting”.

Peskov also revealed that President Putin was looking forward to the high stake meeting with Trump which has been scheduled for 3:45pm local time.

The two presidents are expected to focus their discussions on the Syrians war, the Ukrainian crisis and the fight against terrorism although most observers would be closely watching to see if Trump will bring up Russia’s meddling into the 2016 presidential elections in the US.
