Indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory have said they will not be part of an Arewa Republic if Nigeria should eventually break up.

According to a statement by the President of the Original Inhabitants Development Association of Abuja, Pastor Danladi Jeji on Monday, the Federal Capital Territory will seek an autonomous state rather than go with any other part of Nigeria.

Said Jeji: “We urge more peace and unity at the moment but should the Nigerian federation be dissolved, we shall have no choice but to seek an independent status from northern or southern groups agitating for separate countries at the moment.

“Like Kosovo, we shall seek the United Nations’ administrative, civil and military support to declare an autonomous status of self – government.”

The statement also said, any region or individuals in Nigeria who are hoping to forcefully annex Abuja, in the event of a break up of the country, should kill that dream as it will not be realized.
