Nigeria’s immediate past president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said that the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigerians by its inability to deliver on its campaign promises.
He stated this in his private residence in Abuja when a former Minister of Education and a contender for the chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Tunde Adeniran led his campaign team to seek his support.
Jonathan stressed that the same leaders who were throwing tantrums at his administration on its petroleum and power policies could not fare any better after more than two years of taking over power.
“We need a chairman who is competent and determined to do what is right. PDP has done very well; from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2015. Those who criticized us, what have they done?
“A litre of petrol is now N145. Electricity has not improved; let us select good materials for our elections. We did very well and we would continue to defend what we did,” Jonathan said while addressing the delegation.
He promised to engage the government at the appropriate time, saying the PDP must get things right at its next convention by fielding popular candidates that would reclaim power from the APC and deliver good governance to Nigerians.
