President Muhammadu Buhari says his visit to Ebonyi State in south-eastern Nigeria was an indication and re-assurance that he strongly believed in the unity of the nation.
Speaking shortly after being conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Ochi Oha’ by South East traditional rulers, President Buhari reiterated his resolve to fulfill all the promises he made to Ndibgo when he met with a delegation of their leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
“My presence here today is a demonstration of my strong belief in the unity of Nigeria. As the most populous country in Africa, with over 300 ethnic groups, our diversity is almost unique.
He added: “When I met with the leaders of the South East in Abuja last month, they raised several issues of concern, including the state of the roads and infrastructure in the region.”
While thanking the Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi for his warm reception and commitment to the development of the state, the President assured the region of his resolve to fulfill his promises as according to him, the 2018 budget included many projects for the region in the area of power, agriculture and social services.s
