Dr. Samuel Olugbenga Adelana is a uniquely dynamic engineer. As an academic, he is something of an enigma. He combines the finest traditions of research and scholarship with the best culture of engineering practice.

Engr. Samuel Olugbenga Adelana is a PhD holder in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Engineering, a distinguished Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a Mechanical Engineer and Director of the Physical Planning Unit of the Yaba College of Technology.

Prior to his appointment, he was Deputy Director at the Unit. He is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with 20 years of academic and research experience in Manufacturing, Renewable/Sustainable Energy and Industrial Automation/Mechatronics Engineering.

He had his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Lagos State University and the University of Ibadan respectively, and currently at the verge of completion of his second PhD programme in Renewable and Sustainable Development in a British University.

Adelana is a recipient of many awards, scholarships and research grants at both national and international levels. He belongs to several professional bodies including NSE, ASME, NIMechE, COREN, IVETA, ERG, ETRG, SID and many others. Engr. Adelana is a UK Certified Quality Management Systems Auditor (QMS-ISO 9001:2008), UK Certified Environmental Management Systems Auditor (EMS-ISO 14000:2004) and UK Certified Occupational, Health & Safety Management Systems Auditor (OHSMS-18001:2007).

He has added the following fellowships to his caps: Fellow, Centre for International Cooperation in Science (CICS); a Fellowship of Indian National Science Academy (INSA-JRD-TATA), India-2010; Fellow, Institute of Public Administration—(FIPAN) (FPA/ABJ/14/030); Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNIMechE); Fellow, National Association of Technological Engineers, (FNATE) and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Policy Administration (FCIPA) among others.

Engr. Samuel Olugbenga Adelana is happily married with children.

It is in recognition of his contribution to national development in the area of Physical Development & Maintenance Services that Dr. (Engr.) Samuel Olugbenga Adelana is deemed worthy to be conferred with the Development in Nigeria Merit Award which is part of the 2017 PSR National Awards.
