David Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State who was elected into office under the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wants President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019.
Addressing State House correspondents on Thursday after meeting with the President, Umahi said he as a first term governor would also wish to go for a second term.
Umahi said: “Any first term governor would want to go for a second term. And if it is what you wish yourself, you should be honest enough to wish another person the same.
“Since Mr. President is doing his first term and I am doing my first term, it’s my wish to re-contest and I will as well wish the President the same to re-contest,” he added.
He further revealed that the people of Ebonyi State were in high spirits and fully prepared to receive the President who is scheduled to visit the state next week to commission some projects carried out by his administration.
