Senators on Thursday passed a vote of confidence in Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following reports of an alleged plot to impeach him.
Rumors circulated on Wednesday suggested that the presidency had deployed Department of State Services (DSS) operatives to the National Assembly to prevent the impeachment. However, Akpabio dismissed the claims, affirming that the Senate remains united.
The presidency also issued a statement denying any threats to Akpabio’s position.
