Dr. Ashraf Mohammad is a distinguished orthopaedic, spine, joint replacement and arthroscopy surgeon with over 16 years of surgical experience and extensive international exposure. He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Starcare International Hospital, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, a world-class multispecialty hospital established to provide international-standard healthcare to Nigerians at an affordable cost.

Dr Mohammad’s academic and professional training spans several specialised areas of orthopaedic medicine. He holds an MBBS, an MS in Orthopaedics as a Gold Medalist, and FICS Ortho from the USA. His advanced training includes fellowships in Arthroplasty in Canada, Spine Surgery in Michigan, Microsurgery of the Spine, and Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine. He also holds a Master in Hospital Administration and received training in Pain Management from the Royal College in England.

His professional career has taken him across leading healthcare institutions in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Oman, the Maldives, India, Nepal and Nigeria. His international experience includes work at Markham Stouffville Hospital in Canada, King Abdul Aziz Naval Base Hospital in Saudi Arabia, Aster Al Raffah Hospital in Oman and Apollo Hospitals in India. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics, teaching postgraduate MS Orthopaedics students at Manipal Medical College.

Renowned for his expertise in complex orthopaedic procedures, Dr Mohammad specialises in trauma, arthroscopy, spine surgery, joint replacement and joint reconstruction, with particular interest in keyhole and minimally invasive techniques. Over the course of his career, he has performed thousands of successful surgeries and trained numerous young and aspiring orthopaedic surgeons.
