President Muhammadu Buhari says he expects millions of Nigerians from all parts of the country to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming months.
Buhari stated this in a congratulatory letter which he sent to Basheer Mohammed, a former Senator who recently defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The letter dated January 25, 2018 and titled “Re: Declaration for APC” was in acknowledgement of an earlier one written by Senator Mohammed.
The letter read in part: “I am most delighted to receive your letter informing me of your impending decision to formally declare for our great party, APC.
“Furthermore, I am very encouraged to learn that you are bringing thousands of new supporters into the fold. We are expecting millions to join us in the next few months.”
Although President Buhari is yet to publicly declare for the 2019 presidential elections, there are glaring indications that he will run as his presidential campaign office was inaugurated in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital last week.
