President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said the incessant attacks by Fulani herdsmen and other bandits across the country would no longer be tolerated by the Federal Government.
He stated this while commissioning the Comprehensive Special School in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, urging victims of such attacks not to engage in reprisals.
The President reassured Nigerians, especially the people of the North-Central who were mostly on the receiving end of attacks that his administration would not condone such barbaric acts as the FG was working round the clock to ensure that peace and stability returned to the region.
Buhari said: “I want to assure the people of the North-Central and indeed all Nigerians that the Federal Government is working day and night to ensure that peace and stability returns.
“We have deployed additional resources to all the affected areas to maintain law and order. The attacks by suspected herdsmen and other bandits will not be tolerated.”
He added: “I appeal to all Nigerians to refrain from reprisal attacks. The security agencies have standing orders to arrest and prosecute any and all persons found with illegal arms.”
He expressed his condolences and sympathy to all victims of the attacks and assured them that his administration would double its efforts and commitment towards achieving its cardinal objectives of securing lives and property, curbing corruption and ensuring economic growth through diversification.
Other projects commissioned by President Buhari in Nasarawa State include the Electronic Library, a Fire Service facility, a township road, a model primary health care centre and the Karu International Market.
