President Muhammadu Buhari has called on all Nigerians particularly the elites to make sacrifices as a foundation towards ensuring national growth and development.
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garuba Shehu, Buhari made the appeal when he met with a delegation of Katsina Senior Citizens in Daura, his hometown which is in Katsina State,
The statement said President Buhari stated that there were occasions when the citizens of a country must let go of their personal pleasures or pay the ultimate price for the unity and progress of a nation.
“The Nigeria of our time is in need of sacrifice by all citizens to free it from corruption, poverty, crime and underdevelopment,” President Buhari said.
While commending members of the Forum for complementing the efforts of his administration towards national development, the President assured them that the security of lives, property and prosperity of all Nigerians would continue to receive the needed attention from his administration.
In his remarks, leader of the delegation, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State said the group were in the President’s country home to condole with him over the death of two members of his extended family.
Among dignitaries who accompanied Governor Masari on the visit were the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk, the Galadima of Katsina and former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mamman Nasir among others.
