The immediate past governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has advised the Federal Government to tackle the plethora of problems facing Nigeria instead of lamenting along with the citizens of the country.
Speaking at the 26th Convocation Lecture of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu, the former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said rather than subsidizing petroleum products, the government should hand over the nation’s refineries to competent investors who would appropriately manage them.
“Rather than to lament and agonize, what we need to do is to organize and tackle those things that have brought us down as a nation. As Nigerians we must recognize the problems confronting the country so as to diagnose and prescribe solutions to fix them.
“The responsibility of leaders is to fix the country rather than join citizens to lament. When one notices that an environment is oppressive, what is expected of the victim is not to sit down to lament but to device a way out of the problem,” Oshiomhole said.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari on his dogged crusade against corruption, Oshiomhole said the era of impunity in Nigeria was over as the current administration was battle-ready to bring offenders to book regardless of their status.
