Mr. Oseloka Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State government and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last year’s gubernatorial elections in the state says youths in the country have proven President Muhammadu Buhari right for tagging them as being lazy.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in preparation for the forthcoming presentation of his latest book titled “Prime Witness: Change and Policy Challenges in Buhari’s Nigeria,” Obaze argued that if indeed the youths were not lazy, they would have proved the President wrong by taking to the streets in protest to show the world how serious and hardworking they have been in trying to make ends meet under harsh economic conditions and unfavourable government policies.
Obaze said: “I agree with President Buhari. If the youths did not agree with him, they would have shut down the country immediately the President’s statement was made public.”
According to him, the statement was enough to cause disquiet in many markets, offices and other places where youths struggle daily to make ends meet.
He said there exists an alarming weakness and gaping loophole in the governance structure of Nigeria, adding that the country had arrived at a critical juncture where governance pitfalls and challenges compelled an urgent directional change.
