The Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ademola Adeleke has declared his intention to contest the Osun State governorship in 2019.
THE senator who has become popular for his energetic dancing sessions usually posted on social media made his intention known in a letter he wrote to the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.
Senator Adeleke who is also the father to singer, B-red and uncle to music star, Davido said his intention to vie for the office was based on his conviction that he could unite the party in the state, stressing that he has the ability to “galvanize the general electorate towards ensuring a resounding victory for the PDP in the forthcoming polls.”
He further solicited the support and mandate of the leadership of the party to enable him fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Until April 2017, Senator Adeleke was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He decamped to the PDP when he fell out with the APC leadership over the bye-election to fill the vacant position at the Senate, following the death of his brother, Isiaka Adeleke.
Three months later, the 58-year-old Adeleke won the bye-election into the Senate, replacing his late brother at the Upper Legislative Chamber.
