United States President, Donald Trump will be the host of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on April 30 in Washington where they will discuss issues bordering on economic growth and terrorism.
According to a statement released by the White House on Sunday, Nigeria’s economic growth, security and the leadership role it holds in the African continent will advance the mutual prosperity of both countries.
“President Trump looks forward to discussing ways to enhance our strategic partnership and advance our shared priorities; fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security, and building on Nigeria’s role as a democratic leader in the region.
“The relationship of the United States and Nigeria is deep and strong, and Nigeria’s economic growth, security and leadership in Africa will advance our mutual prosperity,” the statement read.
The scheduled meeting will be the second time for the two leaders. In September last year, both leaders met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, at a luncheon Trump held for a select group of African leaders.
President Buhari left the country for the United Kingdom on Monday last week in preparation towards attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which begins in London on April 18 and ends on April 20.
