Angelique Kidjo has beaten Burna Boy to win her fourth Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album shattering the wishes of many Nigerians.
Burna Boy had been nominated in the category for his acclaimed album, ‘African Giant’ along with Angelique Kidjo, Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet, Bokanté & Metropole Orkest conducted By Jules Buckley and Altin Gün.
During her acceptance speech, Kidjo celebrated a new generation of African artistes coming up to represent the continent.
“This is for Burna Boy,” she said, lifting up her award to cheers.
