According to news reports, Burundi will swear in president-elect Evariste Ndayishimiye on Thursday, June 18.
The development is coming a week after the death of outgoing President, Pierre Nkurunziza.
The Constitutional Court had ruled late last week that the president-elect be sworn in as soon as possible.
Ndayishimiye was originally scheduled to be inauguarated in August after winning the May 20 polls.
Ndayishimiye, 52, a former army general and Hutu rebel like his predecessor, had been handpicked by the powerful ruling CNDD-FDD to run in a May 20 presidential election.
