The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, to appear before the Senate.

The Court held that as a public officer administering law, he is answerable to the Senate on moral standards.

Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo, in a judgment in the suit, ordered the CCT boss to go and appear before the Senate and answer questions on a public petition brought against him by an aggrieved citizen.

The judge held that his case seeking to stop the probe by the Senate lacked merit and was therefore dismissed.

The Senate had on February 9 asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss a suit filed by Umar seeking to stop his probe for alleged misconduct.

Umar had initially gone to court to challenge the powers of the Senate to investigate him over an alleged assault he perpetrated against a security guard at the Banex Plaza in Wuse 2,Abuja.

He was said to have publicly assaulted the security guard named Sargwak, following a disagreement between them over a parking space on the premises.
