The popular hotel owner, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, has been found guilty in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, a former master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The verdict was delivered by the Chief Judge of Osun State, Adepele Ojo, during the court session.
The tragic incident took place between November 5 and 7, 2021, at Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, where Adegoke was a guest. The court’s decision was based on the compelling circumstantial evidence that pointed towards Adedoyin’s involvement in the killing.
Justice Ojo emphasized that Adedoyin’s refusal to testify in court worked against him, as the circumstantial evidence shifted the burden of proof onto him. The judge further noted that Adedoyin’s decision not to enter the witness box was indicative of his acceptance of the murder charges pressed against him by the prosecution. The alibi presented by his defense counsel, claiming that the hotel owner was in Abuja during the time of Adegoke’s death, was dismissed by the court.
