Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has again questioned the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s educational background.
In a X post on Sunday, Atiku noted discrepancies in the schools Tinubu has claimed to attend over the years. He highlighted that Tinubu listed several specific primary and secondary schools in 1999 before now claiming he only attended Chicago State University.
“I am scratching my head. How is that possible?” wrote Atiku. “Methinks that all well-meaning Nigerians should be as confused as I am with Tinubu’s declaration that he had no primary and secondary education, yet he has a university degree.”
Atiku said he is petitioning Chicago State to clarify Tinubu’s academic records to help the public understand his journey. The former VP accompanied his remarks with a laughing emoji.
Both Atiku and Labour Party’s Peter Obi are challenging Tinubu’s recent election victory in court. Questions over the president’s education credentials and eligibility have persisted for years.
Critics argue Atiku is simply attempting to discredit Tinubu rather than raise substantive legal challenges. But the former VP maintains vagueness around Tinubu’s background warrants scrutiny given the high office.
