In a move to expedite the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, the Federal Government has intensified discussions with the Kingdom of Morocco.
The talks, held on January 24, 2024, between Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and Ms. Leila Benali, Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, centered on accelerating the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project.
The discussions, led by NNPC Ltd.’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, and ONHYM’s Director General, Mme Amina Benkhadra, focused on implementing the Memoranda of Understanding signed in 2022. The pipeline, spanning 5,300 km from Nigeria to Morocco, aims to address energy poverty in Africa, with significant international collaboration involving multiple countries.
