The Federal Government has announced the distribution of 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as part of its efforts to alleviate the economic burden on Nigerians.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known to State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on Monday.
Idris explained that each state has received truckloads of rice, with each truck containing 1,200 bags of 25kg rice. The rice is intended for onward distribution to the most vulnerable individuals and families across the country.
“This consignment represents the federal government’s initial step to provide support to all the sub-nationals,” Idris stated. He emphasized that state governments are expected to distribute the rice to help mitigate the current economic hardships faced by the populace.
The move comes as part of a broader strategy by the federal government to support Nigerians during challenging economic times and ensure that basic necessities are accessible to those in need.
