President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, which began shortly after 1:00 PM, comes amidst growing calls for nationwide protests against the prevailing economic hardships in the country.
Although the official agenda for Thursday’s meeting has not been disclosed, it is widely speculated that the discussions may focus on the planned protests scheduled from August 1 to 10. The protests, organized under the hashtag ‘#EndBadGovernance,’ have gained significant traction on social media, despite the organizers remaining largely anonymous and no official group claiming responsibility.
This meeting with the APC governors follows a recent gathering of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum on Wednesday night. It also comes after a last-minute cancellation of the National Economic Council meeting, which was initially scheduled for noon on Thursday.
