President Bola Tinubu is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet to improve governance and address key issues in the country. This was confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
Onanuga dispelled rumors suggesting the current administration’s lack of achievements, emphasizing that the government has made significant strides in transforming the economy. However, the public may not fully recognize these successes.
Providing more insight into Tinubu’s decision, O’tega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Strategy Engagement and Communications, explained that the reshuffle is based on a detailed performance evaluation. Ogra pointed out that during a ministerial retreat held shortly after the inauguration of the current cabinet in August 2023, Tinubu announced that periodic reviews would be conducted to assess ministers’ progress, and these reviews would inform any decisions on cabinet changes.
Onanuga further stated that Tinubu has directed his ministers to increase public awareness of the government’s initiatives in their respective ministries. He added that although no specific timeline has been set for the reshuffle, the President is committed to making the changes soon.
“I don’t have any timeline. The President has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet and will do it. I don’t know whether he wants to do it before October 1, but he will surely do it,” Onanuga said.
