Every human has their portrait reflecting their character and ways of life.
The portrait of a distinguished gentleman and classic par excellence, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, the fifth Vice-Chancellor of Citadel of Academic and Moral Excellence, Crescent University, Abeokuta, is a representation of selfless service, transparency in the management of human and material resources, humility, objectivity, civility and fairness.
One of the few head-hunted eggheads from the United Kingdom and the diaspora to positively impact the young and dynamic Crescent University, Prof. Gbajabiamila joined the services of the institution as Deputy Vice-Chancellor between 2011 and 2014. During this period, his cooperation and professionalism with his predecessor saw Crescent University to another level of steady development.
Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila was born in Lagos State. He received his Primary and Secondary education in London and later proceeded to the University of London in 1976 where he obtained his first degree in Microbiology.
He remained at the University as a Research Student and obtained his PhD in Virology in 1984.
He became a Research Fellow before obtaining his first appointment within the University of London. He remained there for over twenty years and rose to the rank of Head of Extra Mural Science. He was later head hunted to the role of Associate Director in another London University where he had academic responsibility for part-time students.
Professor Gbajabiamila was Visiting Professor and was later appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor and Professor of Virology at Crescent University, Abeokuta in 2010.
He was appointed Vice Chancellor, Crescent University on 1st November 2014.
It is instructive to put on record that within a few years of his tenure as Vice Chancellor, his leadership has recorded 100% National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation status for all programmes. This is not unconnected with his passion for standards and conformity to the NUC rules.
Prof. Gbajabiamila, an advocate of girl-child education, has personally sponsored indigent students as part of his contributions to knowledge and society. He is also an advocate against over 10 million Nigerian children out of school.
His membership of professional association include: Member Institute of Learning & Teaching, (MILT) (UK); Member of the Forensic Science Society; Member Institute of Biology (M.I.Biol); Chartered Biologist (C.Biol); Fellow of the Linnean society (FLS), and Fellow Institute of Corporate Administration (FICA).
