Sir Ayodele Oghogho Othihiwa, a distinguished accountant, philanthropist, and visionary, hails from the Owodokpokpo community in Igbide Kingdom of Isoko South LGA in Delta State. Born in October 1965, Sir Ayodele’s journey reflects a lifetime of dedication to professional excellence, national development, and humanitarian causes.
After completing his primary education at LA Primary School, Ilishan-Remo, and secondary education at Remo Divisional High School, both in Ogun State, Sir Ayodele pursued a degree in Economics and Management Science at the Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University). He graduated in 1988 as the best graduating student of his department, faculty, and the second-best overall in the university, demonstrating his academic brilliance.
His commitment to lifelong learning led him to attend prestigious programs, including the Advanced Management Program at Lagos Business School, leadership courses at the Gordon Institute of Business Studies, University of South Africa, INSEAD Leadership Development Program in France, and specialized programs at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School.
Sir Ayodele has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s financial and accounting sectors. Currently, he serves as Partner and Head of Financial Services Industry at KPMG Nigeria, a position he has held for over 28 years. His expertise spans audit and financial advisory services, enterprise risk management, due diligence, and organizational restructuring across industries, including financial services, oil and gas, manufacturing, and aviation.
A prominent figure in the accounting profession, Othihiwa was instrumental in Nigeria’s transition to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) framework. As a member of the Federal Government’s National Committee, he played a critical role in developing the country’s roadmap for IFRS adoption in 2012, revolutionizing financial reporting standards in Nigeria.
Sir Ayodele’s dedication extends beyond his professional life into philanthropy. He established the Sir Ayodele Oghogho Othihiwa Foundation in 2010, which provides scholarships, healthcare support, and economic empowerment to underserved communities. He has personally sponsored over 100 students, renovated educational facilities, and supported numerous community projects aimed at socio-economic development.
A global peace advocate and humanitarian, he is recognized as a Global Peace Ambassador by the United Nations. He is also a Knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Communion, reflecting his steadfast commitment to faith and service.
Married to Barr. Sally Aruoriwo Othihiwa, a lawyer and philanthropist, Sir Othihiwa’s personal life is grounded in his commitment to family and service. Together, they continue to impact lives through their humanitarian initiatives.
