President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred a posthumous national honour, Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR), on the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, during his burial ceremony held in Abuja.
The solemn event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abass, and other dignitaries.
The ceremony featured military rites, including the setting of the casket by pallbearers, a faith service, the sounding of the Last Post, and a minute of silence in honour of the late Army Chief.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu praised Lt-Gen. Lagbaja’s service and announced the posthumous award, acknowledging his contributions to the nation.
