The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), held in Rabat, Morocco, has set the stage for several compelling group-stage matchups. The tournament is scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, across six Moroccan cities.
Group A: Hosts Morocco will face Mali, Zambia, and the Comoros Islands. The opening match on December 21 in Rabat features Morocco against the Comoros Islands.
Group B: Egypt, led by star forward Mohamed Salah, is set to rekindle its rivalry with South Africa. They are joined by Angola and Zimbabwe.
Group C: Nigeria will compete against Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Group D: Senegal, the reigning champions, are grouped with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, and Botswana.
Group E: Algeria appears to have a favorable draw alongside Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.
Group F: Defending champions Ivory Coast will begin their title defense against Mozambique and will also face five-time winners Cameroon and Gabon. Their first match is scheduled for December 24 in Marrakesh.
The tournament features 24 teams divided into six groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 16.
