On Thursday, February 6, 2025, during the early morning Subhi prayer, gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The assailants abducted at least 10 worshippers, including the Imam.
Residents reported that the community has faced repeated harassment from these gunmen, despite the presence of security agents. However, the timely intervention of security forces, led by Nigerian Army troops, helped to curtail the attackers’ activities during this incident.
The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the attack on Friday. The Command’s spokesman, Ahmed Rufai, stated that police authorities are collaborating with other security agencies to rescue the abducted victims.
