President Bola Tinubu has approved a new round of appointments to fill vacancies in the governing councils of federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the appointments span various educational institutions and states, reflecting a broad geographic and sectoral coverage.
Among the notable appointees are:
- Hon. Chidi Nwogu (Imo) – Member, Council of African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja.
- Dr. Folashade Kareem (Kwara) – Member, Council of University of Jos, Plateau.
- Mr. Dipe Adeniyi (Lagos) – Member, Council of Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi, Akwa Ibom.
- Mr. Akanimo Umoh (Akwa Ibom) – Member, Council of Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa.
- Mr. Babatunde Jinadu (Lagos) – Member, Council of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
- Mr. Chijioke Okeifufe (Enugu) – Member, Council of Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa.
Other appointments include:
- Hon. Babatunde Olokun (Ogun) and Hon. Isah Ambaka (Nasarawa) – Members, Council of Federal University, Kashere, Gombe.
- Dr. Olusegun Ategbole (Ondo) – Member, Council of Federal University, Wukari, Taraba.
- Hon. Isa Song (Adamawa) and Hon. Bernard Miko (Rivers) – Members, Council of Federal University, Gashua, Yobe.
- Mr. Muyideen Balogun (Ogun) – Member, Council of Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun.
Also joining the councils are:
- Hon. Mayegun Yomi (Lagos) – Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru, Kebbi.
- Hon. Abbas Braimah (Edo) – Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara.
- Dr. Adebimpe Adebajo (Ondo) – Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa.
- Hon. Bawa Bwari (Niger) – Nigeria Arabic Language Village, Borno.
- Hon. Bello Bagudu (Kebbi) and Hon. Nasarawa Mani (Katsina) – Federal University of Health Sciences, Katsina.
The list continues with new council members for several federal polytechnics:
- Hon. Shehu Kagara (Kaduna) – Federal Polytechnic, Isuochi, Abia.
- Dr. Francis Ogbise (Bayelsa) – Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra.
- Hon. Almajiri Geidam (Yobe) – Federal Polytechnic, Monguno, Borno.
- Rahila Ilegbodu (Taraba) – Federal Polytechnic, Orgin, Delta.
- Hon. Shehu Lambu (Kano) – National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi, Edo.
- Hon. Yusuf Mai Adua (Sokoto) – Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, Gombe.
- Saleh Mohammed (Jigawa) – Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, Jigawa.
- Hon. Adekola Aliu and Waidi Ayinla (Osun) – Federal Polytechnics in Daura and Offa respectively.
- Hon. Hashimu Abdullahi (Sokoto), Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar (Bauchi), and Ibrahim Abba Geidam (Yobe) – Appointed to Federal Polytechnics in Plateau, Taraba, and College of Education, Gwoza (Borno).
Appointments were also made across Federal Colleges of Education:
- Mohammed Nura (Kebbi) – Pankshun, Plateau.
- Hon. Abdulkadir Global (Kaduna) – Technical College, Isu, Ebonyi.
- Hon. Usman Balkore (Sokoto) – Technical College, Ekiadolor, Edo.
- Hon. Goodluck Opiah (Imo) – Odugbo, Benue.
- Hon. Bassey Etim (Akwa Ibom), Hon. Chris Eta (Cross River), and Hon. Shuaib Yahaya (Katsina) – Omoku, Rivers.
- Hon. Sani Anka (Zamfara) – Special Education College, Oyo.
- Hon. Yusuf Dikko (Jigawa) – Technical College, Keana, Nasarawa.
- Hon. Deacon Taiye (Kwara) – Ilawe, Ekiti.
- Hon. Isa Lawal Doro (Katsina) – Technical College, Asaba, Delta.
According to Mr. Onanuga, all appointments take immediate effect.
