Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new head coach, signing him on a deal expected to run until the summer of 2027. The former Everton and Burnley manager replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed after a poor start to the season.
Dyche, 54, becomes the club’s third manager of the current campaign, reflecting the instability that has marked Forest’s return to European competition. The club sits in the lower end of the Premier League table after collecting just five points from their opening eight matches.
His appointment follows the sacking of Postecoglou, who lasted just 39 days in charge. Forest reportedly turned to Dyche for his reputation as a strong organiser with a track record of bringing defensive structure and resilience to struggling sides.
Dyche, who once spent time at Forest as a youth player, brings extensive Premier League experience, most notably during his tenure at Burnley, where he earned praise for achieving promotion and securing multiple top-flight survivals on a modest budget.
In a statement accompanying his appointment, club officials highlighted Dyche’s “durability, clarity of system, and ability to stabilise squads under pressure” as key reasons for his selection.
His first challenge will be to revitalise a Forest squad battling confidence issues as they prepare for a Europa League fixture against FC Porto, followed by crucial league encounters.
With mounting pressure to reverse the club’s trajectory both domestically and in Europe, Dyche’s arrival signals Nottingham Forest’s intent to arrest their decline and restore stability after a chaotic managerial cycle.
His tenure begins immediately, with expectations high that he will bring discipline, structure, and renewed belief to a team desperately in need of direction.
