The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, on Monday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos, reaffirming plans to deepen cooperation in security and trade.

The meeting, held at the President’s residence, focused on strengthening bilateral relations amid growing global economic and security challenges.

Kallas, who led an EU delegation, said both sides explored new areas of collaboration, particularly in investment, trade, critical raw materials, and cybersecurity.

“We are like-minded partners,” she said, noting that countries committed to a rules-based international order must work closely together in the face of global instability.

Also present at the meeting were National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of Budget and National Planning Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

In his remarks, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with the European Union and expressed appreciation for the bloc’s continued support.
