The 98th Academy Awards were held last night at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with the political thriller One Battle After Another emerging as the biggest winner of the night.
The film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, took home six awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, cementing its dominance at Hollywood’s most prestigious awards ceremony.
Actor Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his performance in the film Sinners, marking his first Oscar win after the film received multiple nominations. Jessie Buckley took home Best Actress for her role in Hamnet, while Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in One Battle After Another. Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Weapons.
Other notable winners included the Norwegian film Sentimental Value, which won Best International Feature Film, and the documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin, which secured Best Documentary Feature.
In technical categories, Frankenstein won awards for Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling, while Avatar: Fire and Ash took the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
The ceremony, hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, celebrated achievements in global filmmaking and highlighted several historic wins and milestones across the industry.
