President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, resilience, and hope as the country marks the Easter celebration, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and economic challenges.
In his Easter message to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, the President highlighted the spiritual significance of the season, noting that it commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and symbolizes sacrifice, redemption, and the triumph of light over darkness.
He said the message of Easter is particularly relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, as citizens navigate economic difficulties and persistent security concerns. Despite these challenges, Tinubu assured that his administration is making determined efforts to restore stability and improve living conditions.
The President acknowledged the ongoing sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces, commending their efforts in confronting terrorism and banditry across the country. He disclosed that the government is increasing resource allocation and strengthening international partnerships to enhance security operations and deliver decisive outcomes.
Referencing his recent visit to Plateau State, Tinubu said he shared in the grief of victims of violence in Jos and received assurances from security chiefs on progress in addressing the situation. He added that support from foreign partners is also being leveraged to bolster Nigeria’s security framework.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of national unity, warning that no country can achieve sustainable progress in an atmosphere of fear and instability. He urged citizens to support lawful efforts, promote peace, and reject forces that threaten collective well-being.
On the economy, the President acknowledged that ongoing reforms have imposed short-term hardships but maintained that they are necessary for long-term prosperity. He expressed confidence that current economic indicators show the country is on the right path toward recovery and growth.
As Nigeria gradually approaches another electoral cycle, Tinubu called on political actors and citizens to uphold democratic values, stressing the need for peaceful participation and adherence to the Electoral Act. He noted that democracy thrives on responsibility, restraint, and informed decision-making.
The President expressed appreciation for the support of Nigerians, pledging to continue working to justify their trust and deliver a more secure, stable, and prosperous nation.
He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
