Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has nominated Murtala Sule Garo as deputy governor and forwarded his name to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The nomination was disclosed in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, who said the move is in line with constitutional provisions.
Governor Yusuf urged lawmakers to expedite action on the request to enable the nominee assume office, noting that the decision followed consultations with key stakeholders across the state.
Garo is described as a seasoned political figure with experience spanning over two decades in public service. He has held several positions, including local government chairman and commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs.
The deputy governorship position became vacant following the resignation of former Deputy Governor Abdussalam Gwarzo.
