Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Thursday attacked the Byazhin area of Kubwa in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), killing a local vigilante and abducting four residents, including a pastor.
Residents said the attackers, numbering about eight, stormed the community in the early hours of the day. The slain vigilante, identified as Shuaibu Yerima, reportedly confronted the gunmen but was shot during the encounter.
Residents further disclosed that Yerima was initially shot in the leg but later died from excessive bleeding due to delays in receiving medical attention.
The deceased vigilante was buried on Thursday following funeral prayers held at the palace of the chief of Ijayapi, also within the Byazhin community.
