The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has destroyed a terrorist enclave and neutralised scores of fighters in precision airstrikes at Metete in the Northern Tumbuns area of the Lake Chad Basin.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of 10 June 2026, followed credible intelligence and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that confirmed terrorist presence, including a senior commander and active hideouts in the area.

According to the Air Force, its aircraft engaged the targets after positive identification, striking concealed structures where terrorists were observed in significant movement. Post-strike assessment confirmed the destruction of the enclave and heavy terrorist casualties.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the operation, reaffirming the Air Force’s commitment to sustained offensives against terrorist groups.

He said the NAF would continue to deploy air power to locate and eliminate terrorist threats, stressing that insurgents would not be allowed safe havens within Nigeria.

The Air Force said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist networks in the North-East theatre of operations.
