Armed bandits have abducted seven students in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State after attacking their residences in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on the outskirts of the Low-Cost Area, where the gunmen reportedly stormed the students’ lodgings and whisked them away to an unknown destination.

Confirming the attack, the Zamfara State Police Command said one of the abducted students managed to escape and has been reunited with authorities.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said joint police tactical teams and military personnel under Operation Fansar Yamma were immediately deployed to the area upon receiving reports of the abduction. However, the assailants had fled before security operatives arrived.

Abubakar said security forces have intensified search-and-rescue operations to secure the release of the remaining victims and apprehend those behind the attack.

He urged residents to remain calm and provide credible information that could aid ongoing operations, assuring the public that efforts were underway to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students.
