The Kogi State Government says security operatives have rescued all victims abducted during Tuesday’s attack on Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area.
The rescued victims include the school principal, a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official and four students who were kidnapped while the ongoing NECO examination was in progress.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said the victims were freed after a coordinated security operation ordered by Governor Usman Ododo, adding that sustained pressure forced the kidnappers to abandon them and flee.
He said the victims are safe and undergoing debriefing and medical checks, while security operatives continue to comb the forest for the fleeing suspects.
The state government commended the Nigerian Army, DSS, Police and other security agencies for the successful operation and thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the rescue effort.
