President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has announced a ₦50 million support package for five families affected by the recent abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, Akpabio said ₦10 million would be given to each of the families of the three servicemen killed during the rescue operation and the two teachers who also lost their lives.
The Senate said the donation forms part of efforts to support the bereaved families, while lawmakers called for intensified security measures to rescue other kidnap victims across the country.
However, Senator Abdul Ningi urged the Senate to ensure compensation is extended to all victims of recent attacks, stressing that every affected citizen deserves equal consideration.
